Human Nature

I believe that as humans we are fundamentally good. As we grow, we are exposed to good and also bad. No matter where you grow up, how you grow up, with whom you grow up, you grow and change constantly. With all of this change and growth, people are naturally exposed to bad. It is your own decision how you react and deal with bad influences. Parenting can play a large role growing up as parents persuade their children in which direction they want. But at the end of the day, it solely comes down to your own decisions not your parents.

My own experiences, religion, and even parenting have led to my beliefs. In the Bible, Adam and Eve are left in the garden. God instructs them not to eat from the tree of knowledge. Eventually Adam and Eve are tempted and persuaded to eat from the tree and decide to do it. God learns of this and Adam and Eve blame each other. In this story, God is like the parent trying to direct his children in which way to act. But again, even with influence, it was Adam and Eve's own decisions to eat from the tree when they knew it was wrong.

  1. I share some your same beliefs. Parents do greatly influence their children's behavior and decisions. Good job!

LOTF Response

Ralph chose the firm strip as a path because he needed to think, and only here could he allow his feet to move without having to watch them.  Suddenly, pacing by the water, he was overcome with astonishment.  He found himself understanding the weariness of this life, where every path was an improvisation and a considerable part of one's waking life was spent watching one's feet.  He stopped, facing the strip, and remembering that first enthusiastic exploration as though it were part of a brighter childhood, he smiled jeeringly. [...] This wind pressed his grey shirt against his chest so that he noticed--in this new mood of comprehension--how the folds were stiff like cardboard, and unpleasant; noticed too how the frayed edges of his shorts were making an uncomfortable, pink area on the front of his thighs.  With a convulsion of the mind, Ralph discovered dirt and decay, understood how much he disliked perpetually flicking the tangled hair out of his eyes, and at las...

How has traveling affected you?

Traveling is something that almost everyone experiences. Wether traveling to another city, state, or even continent, you can experience or learn something new from it. I have been lucky enough to travel pretty often with my family or even alone. My family loves to travel and could do it all the time if possible. Unfortunately, my sister and I typically have a lot of commitments to sports, etc. that prevent us from traveling too often. However, we almost always travel over breaks such as Mardi Gras break, Christmas break, and Thanksgiving break. Up until last year, I had always traveled with my family or friends and had only been around the states. This changed last summer when I decided to travel to Maui, Hawaii alone! Now you're probably thinking how did I travel alone, and I wasn't completely alone. I traveled to Hawaii for a camp with boys and girls around my age from around the world. Going into this I was extremely excited to get to experience a new state I had dreamed a...

My Blog

Hey! I'm Landry and this is my blog. Through writing this blog, I hope to gain more strength in my writing and the ability to write faster. I think can achieve this based on how much time I focus on my blog and how many entires I write. I hope to be able to write the required amount and for that to be easy for me. I appreciate being able to write these blogs. I like writing these blogs much better than having more big essays. These blogs essentially replace two or so large papers. For me, it is much easier to write these short blog posts about different topics than writing large essays about one. Finally, I like how I have access to other classmates' blogs to see what they have written about and even give them compliments on their writing.
